You have arrived! Swim along the beautiful, sandy beaches and immerse yourself in the small village friendliness of Carolina Beach, Kure Beach and Fort Fisher. Pleasure Island is located in southeastern North Caro- lina, nestled between the Atlantic Ocean, the Cape Fear River and the Intracoastal Waterway. It is the perfect spot to enjoy the sun, sea, and island breezes. It is minutes from historic Wilmington and Southport and Myrtle Beach’s famous golf resorts. The Island offers over seven miles of wide, safe, and warm beaches and waters for swimming, kite and board surfing and much more. In addition, the salt marshes, and estuaries of the famous cape fear river and intracoastal waterway allow for kayaking, small boating, and paddle boarding where you can visit many barrier islands that dot the Carolina coast. Pleasure Island is home to two of North Carolinas most beautiful state parks. Carolina Beach State Park has its own deep-water marina with boat ramps located on the Cape Fear River just off the Intracoastal Waterway. You can hike one of the many scenic trails or camp at one of the many sites offered. The Fort Fisher State Park is located on the opposite end of the island and features unique trails, spots for fishing and swimming, and off- road vehicle access.6 VISITOR’S GUIDE Carolina Beach Carolina Beach is located at the north end of Pleasure Island and is home to over 6,000 residents. This friendly and quaint beach town is full of locally owned shops, cafés, restaurants and more. The State Park offers family-friendly trails and activities while the Boardwalk is host to several musicians, summertime firework displays, and amusement rides for all ages. Beaches7 PLEASUREISLANDNC.ORG Kure Beach Sit back and relax oceanside in beautiful Kure Beach. This charming community is located south of Carolina Beach and north of Fort Fisher. Here, you can fish from the pier, take a furry friend to the local dog park, or enjoy one of the many concerts at Ocean Front Park. Don’t forget to pick up a souvenir from the weekly local farmer’s market. Fort Fisher Fort Fisher, located on the southern ex- panse of Pleasure Island, is known for it’s Civil War-era history and reenactments, as well as scenic beauty. Plan your visit to the NC Aquarium for a day of learning and fun. While you are there, take the ferry to Southport for a daytrip or explore the four miles of undeveloped beach.
