It started as a small quick service restaurant located on the Chicago side of Howard Street and after 16 of building a strong following and dynamic business, they purchased, completely renovated and opened a new location on the Evanston side of the street in 2018. Lenice is originally from the south side of Chicago and attended DePaul University where she received her bachelor’s degree in Marketing. Her 20 plus years in corporate America equipped her with the skills to manage all the administrative, HR and corporate aspects of running a successful business. Her passion for architecture, business development, and property development has been intricate in the design and build of the new venue which is bursting with design elements that are unique and one of a kind. At the age of 27, Tony Levy, migrated to the United States from Jamaica. Being the eldest of 11 siblings created many opportunities for him to prepare daily meals alongside his mother. Over the years the developed a strong passion for cooking and delighted to seeing people enjoy the tasteful entrees he would prepare. His passion eventually turned into a burning desire to open an establishment to cater to a broader audience. His three most notable creations include his homemade JERK SAUCE where the recipe originates from his great grandmother. His all-natural house blended juice titled “STAMINA DADDY.” Infused with various ingredients like oats, okra, green banana, peanuts, tonic and stout. STAMINA DADDY has become a household name for energy and stamina amongst male patrons. Finally, the JERK CHICKEN which is the household favorite by all. GOOD TO GO2 www.evchamber.comwww.evchamber.com 3 In 1863, Evanston, Illinois officially banned alcohol and became the de facto home of Prohibition. Even so, an Irish immigrant opened a plumbing company here 27 years later. The John J. Cahill company, and family, have called Evanston home ever since. “We love being part of this community”, says the fourth generation John J. Cahill. “My wife and I grew up here, raised our kids here, and our business has supported countless community organizations here. We couldn’t imagine living anywhere else.” The company launched in 1890 from an alley garage between Foster and Hamlin streets, and immediately began serving the growing city and other North Shore villages. Horses hauled coal-fired boilers and newfangled water closets. A trolley brought the plumber to your neighborhood. Original horse power was eventually replaced by familiar orange Cahill trucks, but service remains the priority -- though without the pleasing harness jingle. Original Cahill brass name tags can still be found on pipes and fixtures in many historic area homes. Cahill’s tradition of service continues into a new decade and century. It offers experienced design, installation and total service for plumbing, heating, and cooling systems, 24 hour emergency service, and inspired bath remodeling. Cahill grew along with plumbing and heating technologies, like the first (astonishing!) pull chains, and early central heating systems patented by Alice H. Walker, an African American inventor, in 1919. This bedrock of knowledge is the basis of their cutting-edge solutions for today’s homes and businesses. In 2015, the company celebrated 125 years of service, and the city of Evanston officially proclaimed June 22 “John J. Cahill Day”. In giving back to the city that helped it flourish, Cahill has long supported local organizations and schools including the Cradle, YMCA, and Mitchell Museum of the American Indian. Whether you’re an Evanston lifer, or new arrival still figuring out the enigma of one-way streets in town, Cahill is eager to make your home efficient, comfortable, and a showcase. With a family legacy of trust and innovation, John J. Cahill Plumbing, Heating & Cooling is proud, and thankful, to serve the communities it helped build. Original Master Plumber certification, 1904. To this day, Cahill plumbing and heating technicians are rigorously trained and certified. Bridle tag for Cahill service wagon. JOHN J. CAHILL INC. Founder John J. Cahill June 22nd John. J.
